Formed by both doctors and parents in
1981, The Mariposas Foundation is a nonprofit organization that focuses
mainly on children with Leukemia and other blood related
disorders. We work together with the parents, patients, nurses
and doctors to create a "normal" kid environment. This is done by
hosting an annual Summer Picnic, Christmas Party, as well as other
events. During these events, the patients can run around and play
like normal kids.
These events also
help parents bond with others whom have undergone similar
experiences. Parents talk to parents and patients whom have
overcome this enormous obstacle, while enjoying free food and
entertainment donated by local businesses and private donations
With the help of
many volunteers, we have left a legacy of over 25 years in serving the
community.
